Annapolis ENGAGEMENT

At the core of our model of care is a holistic approach to brain health, integrating mind, body, and environment to optimize cognitive functioning and overall well-being. We believe that brain health is dynamic and interconnected with various aspects of a person’s life, and we aim to provide comprehensive care that addresses all these dimensions.

  •  Individualized Care: We recognize that each person’s brain health journey is unique. Our approach begins with a thorough assessment that considers cognitive, emotional, physical, and lifestyle factors. We tailor our care plans to the individual, ensuring personalized interventions that meet their specific needs and goals.
  • Preventive Focus: Prevention is at the heart of our care model. We emphasize early detection and proactive strategies to preserve cognitive function, with a focus on lifestyle modifications, mental health support, and education. By addressing risk factors early, we aim to reduce the likelihood of cognitive decline and neurodegenerative conditions.
  • Mind-Body Connection: We believe in the deep connection between the mind and body. Our holistic model includes recommendations that address both cognitive and physical health, such as stress management, mindfulness practices, physical exercise, and nutrition. By promoting a healthy lifestyle, we aim to enhance both brain function and overall quality of life.
  • Support for Families and Caregivers: Brain health impacts not only the individual but also their loved ones. We offer resources, education, and support for families and caregivers, empowering them with the knowledge and tools needed to provide meaningful care and maintain their own well-being.
  • Continuous Learning and Adaptation: Our model of care is rooted in the latest research and advances in brain health. We continuously update our practices to reflect new evidence and adapt our care plans as necessary to respond to changes in the individual’s condition and emerging therapeutic approaches.

Comprehensive Neuropsychological
Assessment

Neuropsychological evaluation services are provided for adults through utilizing evidence-based assessment tools that objectively measure cognitive, behavioral, personality, and emotional functioning to assist with diagnostic clarification and classification as well as treatment planning. The evaluation involves a battery of standardized tests and assessments that are designed to measure various aspects of brain function, including attention, memory, language, perception, problem-solving, and emotional functioning.

Individuals, physicians, or other care partners often request our services to help guide treatment and diagnose, rule out, or characterize the effects of numerous conditions including, though not limited to:

Memory disorders and dementias, (e.g. Mild Cognitive Impairment, Alzheimer's disease, Vascular dementia, etc.)
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Cardiovascular disease
Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
Traumatic Brain Injury/Concussion
Post-operative cognitive changes
Stroke & other cerebrovascular diseases
Parkinson's disease & other movement disorders
Seizure disorder
Cancer
Mood disorders (e.g. depression, anxiety)

Establish baseline cognitive functioning

Individual psychotherapy is provided using an evidence-based integrated approach with tools most appropriate for the individual. Therapy services may be beneficial with assistance in adjusting to a medical condition or catastrophic event, providing education about a diagnosis to family, and providing supportive therapy to individuals and their family.

Therapy

It was previously thought there was no known way to prevent or slow the effects of Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative diseases, though new research shows that lifestyle changes can help significantly.
